Overview
This design task was part of my cooperation with the UX team at SatoshiLabs, redesigning the supported coins page on trezor.io.
Problem and opportunity
Hardware wallets are devices that securely store private keys for your crypto. Trezor supports thousands of coins and tokens, but there are key differences between coins, tokens, and the networks they run on. Previously, this wasn't explained clearly on the supported coins page — users perceived all coins as "equal," resulting in frustration, a lack of understanding, misuse, and support tickets.
Previous state
- The page didn't make enough use of the knowledge base content
- The guide button led to the YouTube channel instead of anywhere more useful
- No explanation of networks
- An infinite scroll made coins hard to search or compare
The main goal of the new design was to educate users on how to use coins and networks correctly, and drive them toward search, coin detail pages, and knowledge base articles.
New version
We went through several rounds of iteration, experimenting with different layouts and content, before settling on the final version.
- Improved copy in the subheadline and in tooltips, driving more traffic to knowledge base content
- A banner in the middle of the table to catch attention, with copy emphasizing "learning"
- The video now plays in a modal, so users stay on the page, and starts automatically
- Table content shows 50 rows instead of an infinite scroll, encouraging users to search more
- A new banner below the table emphasizes the importance of networks, linking to another knowledge base article
Takeaways
This was a fun task to put my support knowledge to use. The goal now is to monitor the website's performance and its impact on ticket numbers related to this topic.
